STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING
If you are serious about your sport, then you need to be serious about training your body to compete.
My Role
My role as your coach is to develop your athletic abilites to allow you to improve as an athlete.
This can mean organising and planning your training; improving your diet or even just helping you re-gain control of fundamental issues such as sleep patterns and injury problems.
Whatever the issues, I am here to help you overcome any obstacles that come between you and being the athlete you want to be.
My Qualifications
Qualified Correcive Exercise Specialist with the NASM in America.
This knowledge allows me to rectify muscular imbalances that cause movement impairments, and ultimately help prevent non-contact injuries.
Some example cases I have treated inculde: Rotator Cuff injuries, lower back problems, hamstring and calve injuries, pelvis instability and core muscle function.
I am a qualified Level 2: 1st For Sport Strength and Conditioning coach with the RFU.
I am an affiliated member of the UKSCA, aiming for full accredidation during 2010.
I am also an international member of the NSCA - the National Strength and Conditioning Association of America.
Indentifying Your Goals
The first step is to clearly establish your goals.
Do you want to smash your personal best? Be selected to play more games this season? Do you need to tackle a recurring injury problem?
Together we will identify your goals and plan a roadmap to achieving them.
Get the Basics Right First!
Sleep and a proper diet are the fundamentals to any successful plan.
EVERYTHING else comes second to them.
Ice baths, supplements and massages will do nothing for recovery if you don't get enough sleep or live on a poor diet of fast foods.
Fundamentals of Movement
Before you can even hope to be the very best in your sport, we need to ensure that you can bend, squat, push and pull in a functional way.
I take all of my athletes and clients through an 6-stage movement assessment to expose any joint or muscular impairments there may be.
By ensuring you have functional movement in all of your joints and muscles, I can help you to prevent injury and improve performance for the long-term.
Sports Specific Athleticism
Once the fundamentals are in place, we can work on your strengths and the sports specific abilites you need to become a better athlete.
This could mean improving your strength and power, increasing your speed and agility or enhancing your cardio-vascular abilites.
The Right Coach for You
Whatever your sport, you can be assurred that I will leave no stone unturned in my quest to help you become a better athlete.
My goal is to help the good become great.
